Words with Gene of Fourplay
I was able to sit down with Gene of Fourplay
and talk to him about the band. This is what
he had to say.
>Flash - How did you guys come up with the
bands name?
>Gene - We originally had four band
members, the name is a great play on words!
>Flash - How long have you guys been
playing together?
>Gene - We have been together for about 3
years now.
>Flash - How did you guys meet?
>Gene - My neighbour introduced me to Tim
and Alan. We started jamming together and
here we are. These guys are great, we have
a good time playing together.
>Flash - For those who might not know, what
type of music do you guys play?
>Gene -We play a lot of the music you would
find on 96.9 The Rogue. You have a lot of
people wanting it, classic rock is great but we
wanted to set ourselves apart.
>Flash - Any requests you refuse to play?
>Gene - "Keep your hands to yourself" by
Georgia Satellites...Its overplayed!
>Flash - Who are your influences?
>Gene - Bad Religion,Green Day, The Police,
Rush, Black Flag, The Misfits and 80's Metal!
>Flash - I see you mentioned a lot of punk
bands, what did you do before this?
>Gene - I moved here to Grants Pass in
2004, I had been in New Jersey playing with a
band called Flatus for about 10 years. It was
a punk band and we wrote a lot of our own
music. We toured, played over 1000 shows
and traveled the US aside from Alaska and
Hawaii.
>Flash - Do you ever miss New Jersey?
>Gene - I sometimes do, but after living here
it would be hard to leave.
>Flash - Do you guys plan on writing your
own music?
>Gene - Yes, we just need to have a solid
place to rehearse.
>Flash - Where do you see the band in the
next couple of years?
>Gene - Getting some original music out and
expanding into more areas.
>Flash - Where can we see your next show?
>Gene - Wednesday Aug.15th@JD's Sports
Pub and then Saturday Aug.18th@ G-Street
Bar and Grill.
>Flash - Gene, thank you for sitting down and
talking with me.
